Science and Technology Park

Made in Hong Kong

Brief

Hong Kong has been renowned worldwide for its high-quality manufacturing. The famous “Made in Hong Kong” label used to be printed on a variety of products, ranging from toys to appliances and clothing.

However, things have been changing. The city has shifted from being the home of affordable manufacturing to becoming one of Asia’s premier innovation hubs.

The meaning of “Made in Hong Kong” has transformed, and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park leads the way in driving innovation in the city. The organisation partnered with BBC StoryWorks and approached us to create a captivating film to showcase innovation in Hong Kong.

Solution

We delved deep into what ‘Made in Hong Kong’ means and highlighted two significantly different innovative companies with rich histories. One of them focuses on bringing affordable MRI machines to the world, while the other is producing high-end liquified egg products using an innovative new process.

We created an interview-based film, where we explore how ‘Made in Hong Kong’ has evolved and how these companies have adapted to this change. We also investigate what lies ahead for Hong Kong and how the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park stands at the forefront of innovation in the city.

Results

The films were published on social media as well on special thematic pages on the BBC.
